Fun Facts:

France is a small country about the size of Texas. France is bordered by both land and water. The countries that border France are Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Spain and Switzerland. The English Channel, The Bay of Biscay and the Mediterranean Sea are the bodies of water that border France. Foods differ from region to region because of geography and climate. French cooking is also influenced by it’s neighboring countries, the foods grown there and their traditional ethnic dishes.

Examples of regional foods and dishes are:

• Normandy: located in the northern region of France. It is know as the apple growing region and is famous for the “Normandy Apple Tart”.

• Brittany: located by the sea, is known for it’s amazing seafood. Bouillabaisse, a fish stew and Coquilles St. Jacques are French favorites.
